About

Insane Edition (also known as "Endurance Challenges" and "X for 10 Minutes") videos are a sub-genre of YouTube Poop movies by clipping a very short segment of a video and looping it for ten minutes without interruption. Most Insane Edition videos span up to ten minutes in length, due to the time limit imposed by YouTube on its uploads.

Origin

The video below is likely the first "Insane Edition" video. It is by the Youtube user Anonikip, obviously an Anon. It was posted on July 16, 2007. The Mudkips were already popular at the time, but this video was different: it presented a challenge to the user. Currently, the video has more than one million views.

Mental Challenge

In a way, these videos serve as a test of mental fitness for the viewer; if the viewer can withstand watching the video in its entirety, the viewer is declared “insane” or is rewarded with the challenger’s respect.

Derivatives

The Mudkips insane edition was obviously not the only one. Other "insane editions" followed. One of the most popular is the Diabeetus insane edition, shown below.

Navi "Hey, listen!" insane edition:

Nyeh insane edition:

RoboPuppy "Yip" insane edition:

"How can she slap me?" insane edition:

Mah Boi insane edition:

Prukogi insane edition:

TheAmazingAtheist / "Blueberry Pie!" insane edition:

Piccolo / "Balls" insane edition:

Hideo Kojima / "Did Ju Rike It?" insane edition

Oprah Winfrey / Peeing insane edition

Patrick Star / "I Love You" insane edition:

Ganon / "Your Face" insane edition:

Goku / eating ramen insane edition:

Yoshi / "Balls" insane edition

and many, many others.

Trend

"Insane Edition" experienced a large spike in August of 2006, and picked up steam in October of 2008. It was still high until December 2009, when it experienced a sudden drop.
