About

It Lives In My Sink refers to a series of memes where one character tells another "it lives in my sink" and panics about something living in the sink, depicted in the meme as a photo of an eyeball peering up out of a sink drain. The eyeball photo was first uploaded to Twitter in September 2021 and is actually a glass eye that fell into the drain while its owner was washing it. The images inspired numerous photoshops the month it was published, as well as becoming an exploitable.

Origin

On September 18th, 2021, Twitter[1] user @DaniloohD made a post in Spanish that translates to, "washing my eye and it fell down the drain, now it's stuck there and I can take it out 🆘" along with two photos of the eye in the drain, one close-up and one further away (shown below, left and right). The post gained over 178,000 likes and 11,700 retweets in roughly two months.

Additionally, the uploader commented with two photographs of him trying to fish the eyeball out of the sick with a toothpick, looking like he's stabbing the eye with it (shown below, left and right).

The image of the eye in the sink was photoshopped numerous times and posted to the comments of the original post by Twitter users (examples shown below).
