On April 14th, 2025, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance accidentally dropped Ohio State University's national football championship trophy while trying to lift it up during a celebration at the White House.^[1] X^[2] user @PhilipWegmann posted a video showing the moment Vance dropped the trophy (seen below), amassing over 10 million views and 12,000 likes in two days.

Within a few days, more X users shared photoshopped versions of Vance's breaking the Ohio State Championship Trophy. For instance, on April 14th, 2025, X^[3] meme page @MostlyPeacefull uploaded a photoshopped image of Vance as the classic "Kevin Chili" scene from the comedy series The Office

On the same day, J.D. Vance^[4] replied to the viral video showing him breaking the trophy, comically writing that he "didn’t want anyone after Ohio State to get the trophy so I decided to break it." The tweet (seen below) received more than 9 million views and 179,000 likes in two days.
