Joe Exotic's N-Word Video is a viral video from 2015 in which Joe Exotic rants about politics and then states that he doesn't understand why he can't say the N-word. The video resurfaced in March 2020 following the release of the Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness Netflix docuseries.

Origin

On November 4th, 2015, JoeExoticTV uploaded "Joe Exotic's Message to Donald Trump Day 29" to YouTube (shown below). The video gained over 406,400 views in five years and features Joe Exotic going on a political rant in a tiger cage.

Spread

On March 20th, 2020, Netflix released Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness. On March 30th, 2020, Twitter @InThierry user posted a clip of the JoeExoticTV YouTube video captioned, "Ummm so I found this earlier today…" (shown below). The tweet garnered over 4.5 million views 72,200 likes and 15,700 retweets in two days.

On March 31st, Twitter user @JasmineSW3[2] replied to the video saying, "This is literally the least surprising thing about this whole story" which received over 18,100 likes and 600 retweets in a day (shown below, left). That same day, Cardi B tweeted, "Ooooo heeeeiiiiillllllllll naaawwww …….Feed him to the lions immediately" (shown below, right). The tweet[3] gained over 7,200 likes and 690 retweets in a day. The Daily Dot[1] published an article about the video.

"It's racist a white person can't say the N word".

Look. I'm white, I do not get why black people keep using the n word very liberally but not allowing certain races to say it. I get historical concept of the word. I do not get why the word is still around if it's supposed to be bad. The thing is white people (at least in my own experience) use the word all the time and know not to use it around black people. I used to call my cousins and brother "nigga" all the time with the same connotation black people do currently, and we're all white rednecks.

The whole thing has just gotten monumentally stupid and complicated. Either make the word acceptable to say or don't. Like we know "f@gg0t" has been labeled wrong. Gay people do not use the term (at least I think, I'm going off my own limited knowledge here). If we have black people using the term so liberally that they can spout two paragraphs using the word 24 times then the racial animus around the word will NEVER dissipate, and it just becomes this petty walking on eggshells game by some people and legitimate hatred by others.

IDK man its just fucking stupid to me.
