About

Just Give Me My Money Trend refers to a viral TikTok trend and internet challenge in which people prank a friend or family member by saying “just give me my money” in a funny voice, making a unique hand gesture and cheering after the person says the line. Everyone must remain silent while maintaining a poker face when the victim's turn comes. The trend was inspired by a Kai Cenat video from January 2024 in which he and his friends repeatedly said the phrase “just give me my money” during a livestream. The challenge was popularized in early August 2024.

Origin

On January 12th, 2024, during a livestream with rapper DreamDoll, Kai Cenat introduced the phrase "just give me my money" to the rapper, which resembles a scene from the 2002 film Paid in Full. In the movie, the phrase is repeated several times, being the core idea of the trend. The moment (seen below, left) was shared on TikTok[1] by user @vrewls, which amassed over 8 million plays and 744,000 likes in eight months.

According to a video posted by streamer Lacy[2] on August 2nd, he and also the streamer Stableronaldo were the ones who coined "just give me my money" as a prank in early August 2024. The video (seen below, right) received roughly 229,000 plays and 33,000 likes in two days.

For example, on August 1st, 2024, TikTok[3] user @w_thorn pranked his friend (seen below, left), amassing over 5 million plays and 349,000 likes in five days. On August 2nd, TikTok[4] user @ivannamunoz5 did the prank with her family (seen below, right), amassing more than 14 million plays and 1.4 million likes in four days.
