Kai Cenat Elden Ring Stream refers to a livestream of the 2022 Soulslike video game Elden Ring by Twitch streamer Kai Cenat. Clips from the stream and posts about Kai Cenat dying to bosses multiple times before managing to beat them repeatedly went viral on social media, inspiring memes and other fan labor.
Origin
On May 8th, 2024, streamer Kai Cenat announced an upcoming Elden Ring stream, uploading a trailer and announcing that he will be streaming the game for over 100 hours until he beats it. The announcement post gained over 3.2 million views on X[1] / Twitter in five days (shown below).

On May 10th, Kai Cenat started the stream, streaming non-stop in the following days, sleeping in the same room as he streamed.

In the following days, multiple accounts on X / Twitter, including news accounts, posted clips from Cenat's stream. Notably, some posts specified that Cenat took a long time and multiple attempts to beat in-game bosses. For example, on May 10th, X[2] user @domainsdomain posted about Cenat spending two hours in an attempt to beat Tree Centinel, the first optional boss in the game. The post received over 7.7 million views, 1,200 reposts and 14,000 likes in three days (shown below).
On May 11th, Dexerto[3] tweeted that Kai Cenat took six hours and 123 deaths to beat the boss, with the post gaining over 2,600 reposts and 64,000 likes in two days.

On May 11th, 2024, X[4] user @JakeSucky posted a clip of Cenat beating Godrick the Grafted, by which point he played for over 20 hours and died over 250 times. The post (shown below) garnered over 3.1 million views, 840 reposts and 25,000 likes in two days.

These and other posts inspired jokes about Cenat's slow progress in Elden Ring. For example, on May 10th, X[5] user @ascinhiding posted a caption meme that received over 510 reposts and 28,000 likes in three days (shown below, left). On May 11th, streamer PointCrow posted a clip of his goldfish beating Godrick the Grafted, writing that at that point the fish had beaten more Elden Ring bosses than than Kai Cenat. The post (shown below, right) received over 3,800 reposts and 60,000 likes on X[6] in two days.
