About

Kamala You're Fired is a catchphrase used in a series of memes and jokes mocking Vice President Kamala Harris after she lost the 2024 United States Presidential Election against Republican and former President Donald Trump. Trump initially said the phrase in July 2024 during a campaign speech in which he said, "We don't want you anywhere. Kamala, you're fired. Get out of here. You're fired" (referencing his catchphrase from The Apprentice). In early November of that year, the phrase gained virality, sparking memes and other memetic content online related to Harris' election defeat.

Origin

On July 25th, 2024, Republican presidential candidate and former President Donald Trump dedicated part of a rally speech in Charlotte, North Carolina to attacking Vice President Kamala Harris, saying, "We don't want you anywhere. Kamala, you're fired. Get out of here. You're fired." The statement is notably a reference to Trump's catchphrase from his time on the reality TV show The Apprentice.[4]

The YouTube[1] page @theipaper posted a clip showing the moment he said the phrase during the rally that day (seen below), amassing more than 23,000 views and 1,100 likes in four months.

Spread

Donald Trump's catchphrase quickly gained traction on social media platforms during the 2024 United States Presidential Election, being incorporated in memes and posts against Kamala Harris after she became the Democrat Presidential nominee.

For instance, on September 25th, 2024, the Facebook[2] page GOP posted a picture of Donald Trump pointing and saying, "Kamala, You're Fired!" (seen below), which amassed more than 1,100 likes and 115 reposts in two months.

On November 6th, 2024, X[3] user @Zvbear posted an Akakichi no Eleven Redraw meme featuring Trump as President and Harris crying (seen below), captioning it, "Kamala, you’re fired, get the fuck out my office.” The tweet received roughly 9,800 likes and 730 reposts in a day.
