About
Kanye West $YZY Meme Coin, also known as Kanye West's $YE Meme Coin, refers to an online rumor that American rapper Kanye West (Ye) is releasing a Solana blockchain meme coin $YZY by the end of February 2025. The token was announced on X / Twitter in late February 2025, with some reports claiming the cryptocurrency may allow Yeezy fans to purchase items directly from the Yeezy website, becoming the new official currency for Kanye's brand. As it garnered attention, Kanye's meme coin raised suspicions that his X account had been sold or compromised, as the singer previously had a stance against cryptocurrency. Speculation about the crypto also notably generated significant discourse online, fueled further by Kanye's crashout weeks earlier.
History
On February 21st, 2025, Kanye West, also known as Ye, announced a meme coin launch in late February, stating that every other coin currently available in the market is “fake.” The post[1] has since been deleted but had amassed roughly 203,000 views and 40,000 likes in four days (seen below).

Developments
Kanye's Anti-Crypto Posts
A few weeks prior to Kanye's meme coin announcement, on February 8th, 2025, the rapper had posted on X that he was not "doing a coin," stating that "coins prey on the fans with hype just like hyped up sneakers culture." The deleted tweet was reposted on February 21st, 2025, by X[2] user @Pledditor, which received roughly 5,700 views and 114 likes in four days (seen below).

Since he previously held an anti-meme coin stance, his announcement in late February 2025 fueled speculation that Kanye sold his X / Twitter account to Barkmeta (a Web3 marketing firm), purportedly for $17 million.[5]
On February 23rd, 2025, X[6] user @BladeDefi posted about the rumor of Kanye selling his account, sharing their personal investigation and claims. The post received roughly 360,000 views, 1,200 likes and 140 replies in two days (shown below).

Following these accusations, Kanye then denied having ties to Barkmeta on his X account, saying, "This is not real. I don’t know this person," in a since-deleted tweet.[7]
Kanye West's Meme Coin Verse In Bhad Bhabie Diss Track
On February 25th, 2025, X[8] user @NATERERUN posted a screen recording of Bhad Bhabie's Instagram Live, which allegedly shows Kanye West rapping about his meme coin in a verse for Bhad Bhabie dissing Alabama Barker. Online Reactions
The rapper's rumored meme coin sparked numerous posts and jokes claiming his crypto launch will result in a rug pull scam (a term for when developers abandon a project and take off with investors' funds).
For instance, on February 22nd, 2025, Redditor[3] u/Tranquility___ posted the Buzz Lightyear Clones meme to the /r/solana subreddit, captioning it, "Everyone when they heard about the Kanye West meme coin." The post amassed over 730 upvotes and 100 comments in three days.

On the same day, TikTok[4] user @onlineboss_crypto posted a video explaining how to buy Kanye's meme coin early (seen below), which amassed more than 3,800 likes in three days.
