Kill Her the Girl Across From You or Kill Her Now is a series of POV redraw memes where a character, often an anime girl, is depicted sitting across the table from someone holding a cell phone displaying text messages telling them to kill the girl. The original iteration of the meme was posted by X (Twitter) artist vsshole in January 2022 and became the subject of redraws over the following months.
Origin
On January 24th, 2022, X[1] user @vsshole posted an edit of a lewd piece of artwork originally posted by Pixiv[2] user Mitsudoue in 2020 depicting through a first-person POV an anime girl sitting across the table from someone holding a phone filled with messages telling them to kill the anime girl, garnering over 57,000 likes in two years (shown below).
Spread
The image gained viral spread, inspiring redraws throughout 2022 and 2023. On January 25th, 2022, X[3] user @dustbinrat posted a redraw that garnered over 26,000 likes in two years (shown below, left). On February 17th, 2023, X[4] user @OtachanShow posted a version of the meme that gained over 8,900 likes in 10 months (shown below, right).
On November 9th, /u/CzdZz posted a version of the meme to /r/slaytheprincess on Reddit[5] referencing the indie game Slay the Princess, garnering over 800 upvotes in a month (shown below). On December 29th, X[6] user @ShitpostGate reposted the original version of the meme, garnering over 16,000 likes in under 24 hours.
