Komeng Panci, also known as Komeng's Pot, refers to photo of Indonesian comedian Alfiansyah Komeng wearing a kitchen pot on his head. The photo gained popularity in 2021 as an exploitable, resurfacing in early 2024 after he was elected as Regional Senate for West Java in the 2024 Indonesia Election.

Origin

On February 18th, 2021, Facebook ^[1] user Tokyo Zaf uploaded the earliest meme with Komeng's photo, reading, "when someone insult you." The post received over 300 reactions in three years (shown below).

Spread

The photo then gained further usage as an exploitable. For example on April 16th, 2021, the Facebook^[2] page "Perkumpulan Orang Santai" uploaded a Steal His Look meme, receiving more than 7,000 reactions in two years (shown below, left).

On August 15th, 2021, Facebook^[3] user Panci uploaded a "My Profile Picture When I Was a Kid" meme that received over 700 reactions in two years (shown below, right).

On July 19th, 2021, the Facebook^[4] page "Gamefinity.id" uploaded a RTX Off / On meme using Komeng's photo. The post received more than 10,000 reactions in two years (shown below).

The photo also became a redraw trend. For example, on April 14th, 2022, Facebook^[5] user Isyraqi Adhitya uploaded Paripi Koumei fan art that used Komeng's photo. The post received over 590 reactions in two years (shown below, left).

On April 23rd, 2022, Facebook^[6] user Kaza Zaky uploaded fan art to the ILUSTRATOR KEREN DAN MANTAP group. The post received more than 4,800 reactions in two years (shown below, right).

Komeng Election

On March 18th, 2024, Komeng became one of four elected Indonesian senators from West Java province.^[7]

Coinciding with the then-upcoming election, meme creators resurfaced the Komeng Panci meme, such as artwork shared by Facebook^[8] user Wali Ydhstira on February 15th, receiving over 210 reactions in a month (shown below).
