About
Lazy Sunday is the second SNL digital short created by The Lonely Island featuring Andy Samberg and Chris Parnell. The music video sketch consists of the duo rapping about The Chronicles of Narnia (a reference to "Chronic," a term for high-grade marijuana), cupcakes, movie trivia, and other mundane activities. After its upload to YouTube, the video went viral, and would later become infamous for its takedown from YouTube numerous times due to copyright infringement. To this day, mirrors of "Lazy Sunday" are removed from YouTube.
It is often credited as a catalyst towards YouTube's success as the most popular video-sharing website on the internet (and more specifically, why Google bought YouTube for 1.65 billion dollars). It is also said to have revived interest in Saturday Night Live.

On December 17, 2005, late night comedy TV show Saturday Night Live aired their second digital short ever, entitled "Lazy Sunday."
One mirror of Lazy Sunday [defunct link] garnered at least 5 million views, and received 1.2 million of those views in less than a week. Overall, considering the multiple copies of the video that were uploaded to YouTube, it eventually gained over 7 million views before being taken down by NBC in early 2006. "Lazy Sunday" was still hosted on the official Saturday Night Live website, but was criticized for only being embeddable on Windows computers.
