About

Leave Me Alone Baby / You're My Baby is a catchphrase and viral audio clip taken from an episode of the animated series American Dad that's spoken by the character Haley to her baby. The audio clip started to see use on TikTok in the summer of 2023, with it being used both for children as well as pets that the meme creator is mad at but still loves.

Origin

On December 11th, 2011, the American Dad episode "Season's Beatings" came out, which shows Haley and her newly adopted child, Nemo. A clip taken from the episode was uploaded on YouTube on October 9th, 2020, by the channel Jason Crosby[1], using the movavi screen recorder software (shown below).

On May 12th, 2023, the TikToker mosiacmonarch[2] uploaded the clip to TikTok, shouting out another TikToker called Pond Dino as creating a sound from it and earning over 380,000 likes in one month for creating the sound page for the clip, which amassed over 80,000 videos in one month (shown below).

Spread

The audio immediately started to see use over the following weeks with people primarily using it in sketches about newborns and children. For example, the video posted by TikToker @itssstyree[3] on May 30th, 2023, in which they explain how it feels to be an auntie by showing them putting down their niece, seeing them cry and then picking them up and cuddling them, uses the sound and earned over 2.4 million likes in two weeks (shown below).

On June 5th, 2023, TikToker @abbysilverisok[4] showcased how the trend can go wrong when she was attempting to do it with her dog. Abby pushed the dog as the usual setup, but instead of coming back toward her so she could hold it for the punchline, the dog hid under furniture looking scared of her, earning over 3.8 million likes in one week (shown below).
