About
MAGAGA is an updated version of former U.S. President Donald Trump's slogan and catchphrase "Make America Great Again" (MAGA) made for his Trump 2024 reelection campaign. MAGAGA is an abbreviation that stands for Make America Great And Glorious Again, which was first uttered in Trump's November 2022 speech from Mar-a-Lago. The meaning of MAGAGA sparked interest online following his 2024 campaign announcement and trended on Twitter and elsewhere shortly after. MAGAGA also became an anti-Trump trend among some due to his opponents coining the abbreviation that made the moment from his speech sound childish and ramble-like.
Origin
On November 15th, 2022, Donald Trump organized a crowd in Mar-a-Lago, Florida for his 2024 Presidential campaign announcement. His roughly hour-long speech was uploaded by multiple YouTube[1] channels, such as CNBC Television, where over the course of two days, it received roughly 547,900 views. At the 21:08-minute mark (shown below), Trump officially announced his run for the presidency and prefaced the statement by saying, "In order to make America great and glorious again, I am announcing …" The word "glorious" was emphasized regarding prior tangents of Trump's in his speech about restoring the "glory" of America.
Following the speech, at around 9:26 p.m. EST on November 15th, Twitter[2] user lawyrer and political author Laurence Tribe tweeted, "So he says he’s running. The hats’ll have to say MAGAGA -- make America great and glorious again. If it makes you gag, get used to it," gaining roughly 7,500 likes in two days (shown below).

Spread
Soon after on November 15th, 2022, other Twitter[3] users chimed in, echoing Laurence Tribe's utterance of MAGAGA. For instance, Twitter[3] user 7Veritas4 tweeted, "It’s MAGAGA now. Time to buy new hats, morons," in reference to Trump's supposedly updated slogan, gaining roughly 3,700 likes in two days (shown below, left). Also that day, Twitter[4] user MTomosy emphasized how MAGAGA was also the sound that a cat makes when it's coughing up a hairball in a tweet that received roughly 3,800 likes in two days (shown below, right).

MAGAGA and Make America Great And Glorious Again started to be reported on by major news outlets as interest grew from the small Twitter circles. For instance, Huff Post[5] and Newsweek[6] both reported on the purported new slogan on November 16th, 2022.
Also on November 16th, the YouTube[7] channel of The Majority Report w/ Sam Seder posted a video about Trump's MAGAGA part of the speech, earning roughly 22,000 views in one day (shown below).
The hashtag "#MAGAGA" then trended en masse on Twitter continuing into the days following Trump's November 2022 campaign announcement.
