About
Me at 12 vs. Blue Ivy at 12 / Are You Picking Up What I'm Putting Down? refers to a school class picture of a 12-year-old girl wearing a black shirt in front of a blue background, seen with her hands resting in front of her. The photo was of Twitter / X user brit does it all (@britsalterego) who posted it in a viral December 2024 tweet, in which she compared herself at 12 to a photo of Beyoncé and Jay-Z's daughter, actress Blue Ivy Carter, at 12 on the red carpet for the premiere of her film Mufasa: The Lion King. @britsalterego was lambasted for the tweet because she was shaming the appearance of a minor when she was much older. Heading into 2025, her class picture was used as a reaction image and exploitable. It was often posted without context to represent being petty and jealous.
