Mike Pence Fly refers to a viral clip of a fly sitting on the United States Vice President Mike Pence's head for two minutes during his debate with vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris. The clip prompted memes and reactions on Twitter and other social media.

Origin

On October 7th, the United States Vice President Mike Pence participated in a debate with vice presidential nominee for the Democratic Party Kamala Harris. During the debate, a fly landed on Pence's hair, resting there for two minutes before flying away (video shown below).[1][2]



Spread

Within minutes after the incident, multiple posts about the fly were made on Twitter. At 10:20 pm EST, Twitter user @eddyburback made one of the earliest uploads of the clip to Twitter,[3] with the video gaining over 115,000 views in one day (shown below).

On October 7th, Twitter[4] user @Seinfeld2000 posted one of the earliest memes referencing the occurrence, replacing the fly with an image of character Barry B. Benson from the 2007 animated film Bee Movie (shown below).
