Mohammad Alai Jr Crying refers to a clip of Baki Hanma character Mohammad Alai Jr crying, his face contorted in a grimace. In September 2023, the clip and image of Alai Jr's achieved popularity on social media as reactions, often used to mock childish behavior or convey fake compassion.
Origin
On August 24th, 2023, episode 14 "Dying for Love" of season two of the anime series Baki Hanma premiered on Netflix.[1] In the episode, character Kozue remembers a past encounter she had with character Mohammad Alai Jr, who broke down in tears in front of her after losing a fight to Baki.
On August 25th, 2023, TikToker[2] antioz_ posted a video of the scene captioned, "No way she thinking about this man like this on the bed." The upload (shown below) garnered over 114,300 views and 5,200 likes in two months.

The scene did not see use as a reaction until mid-Septembetr 2023. On September 15th, 2023, X[3] / Twitter user @gokustinky13817 used a still image of Mohammad Alai Jr crying to react to another post reacting to the character's development in the series. The post (shown below, left) garnered 30 reposts and over 930 likes in one month. On September 17th, 2023, X[4] user @kooda_d_jester posted a We Both Crode meme using the image that received over 50 reposts and 230 likes prior to being deleted (shown below, right).
On September 17th, TikTok[5] user @idespiseydneyprescott posted a meme using the clip that received over 555,000 views and 100,000 likes in one year (shown below, left). On September 18th, TikTok[6] user @xbry271 posted a meme that gained over 23,200 views and 2,000 likes in the same period (shown below, right).

On October 16th, 2023, X[7][8] user @feydemon posted the image, commenting, "this is probably the worst anime screenshot of all time." The post (shown below) garnered over 1,200 reposts and 23,900 likes prior to the account being suspended, causing a surge in popularity of the reaction image.
