Gleaming Steel
Gleaming Steel

in reply to jacob BLackburn

Blandness and mediocrity are one of the most important requirements for lasting mainstream success.

One man's trash is another man's treasure, after all. And if you make something good enough in one man's eyes you'll also make it bad in another man's eyes. This is completely unavoidable.

Every major mainstream industry handles this differently.

- Music churns out mid-tempo love songs. Nobody really likes love songs but that's less important than the fact nobody really dislikes love songs.

- Hollywood makes everything an action-sci-fi-romcom-thriller.

- Car manufacturers paint everything silver

- Video games have open world shooters with RPG progression, crafting, and a linear cinematic story

So on, so forth.
