MrBeast Honey Ad, also known as MrBeast Orange Advertisement, refers to a series of advertisements featuring influencer MrBeast and the browser extension Honey that include the content creator on a bright orange background doing finger guns. The promotional collaboration started in 2020 and was the subject of memes and parodies on Reddit, iFunny and YouTube as netizens posted jokes and montages based on the expressive amount of ads they saw featuring the YouTuber and the coupon company. The original ad is often used as an exploitable meme format in which the text is replaced with various jokes.

Origin

The earliest online mention of the collab between YouTuber^[1] MrBeast and the browser extension Honey was posted in a video on July 1st, 2019, titled "20 Questions with MrBeast," which has the creator introducing himself and sharing details about his career and interests. The video (shown below) amassed more than 7 million views and 287,000 likes in five years.

On September 27th, 2020, Redditor^[2] u/StickyBoy321 uploaded one of MrBeast's banner ads saying "Need A Coupon? Get It Here" on the /r/MrBeast subreddit. The user said in the post that they "thought this would be a great template if you replace 'Coupon' with funny text," which amassed roughly 10 upvotes and seven comments in four years (seen below).

Shortly after the Reddit post, netizens started to replace the phrase "need a coupon" with ironic "call-to-action" phrases. For example, on January 5th, 2023, user JimmenycricketLives69420 uploaded an image macro of the MrBeast banner paired with the text "Are you gay? See if you are here" on the Fallout Wiki Fandom page (seen below, left).^[3]

On February 10th, Imgflip^[4] user @MS_memer_group shared the macro paired with the text "You still play among us. Go get a life," which garnered more than 100 views and two upvotes in a year (seen below, right).
