About
My Interests As A Kid vs. My Interests As An Adult refers to a series of exploitable image macro memes comparing a person's interests during their childhood and how they evolved in adulthood. The meme gained viral attention on Twitter / X in early April 2025, featuring a series of memes that revolve around one's sudden change in interests over the years, typically adding ironic shapes and images of pop culture events or memes in the "My Interests as an Adult" section.
Origin
On April 30th, 2023, X[1] user @delta_dynamics_ posted the earliest known template of the "My Interests As A Kid / My Interests As An Adult" meme, showing the shapes of several topics the user had an interest in during his childhood, which features a shark, dinosaur, fighter jet, gun, tank and car. In the right panel, the "adult section" features the shadows of an anthropomorphic dinosaur and shark, a woman, weapons, war-related vehicles and a car. The post (seen below) amassed roughly 4,000 views and 300 likes in two years.

Spread
The format continued to spread with variations and alterations to the shapes and shadows of the "interests" items in both the childhood and adult segments of the meme.
For example, on April 7th, 2025, X[2] user @peronyawns posted a version of the image replacing the shadows of the adult interest section with the shape of the One Piece anime protagonist Monkey D. Luffy (seen below). The tweet amassed over 272,000 views and 13,000 likes in a day.

On April 6th, 2025, X[3] user @FrolixK posted a version of the image adding the shapes of two Trigun anime characters (seen below), which received roughly 13,000 views and 1,100 likes in two days.
