About
Close to You is an animated video released by Nintendo on October 7th, 2025, that shows a baby who drops her pacifier, which proceeds to move around the room as if being manipulated by an invisible entity. The animation was praised by many for its high quality, drawing comparisons to Pixar animations. However, it also inspired confusion as to what Nintendo franchise or property the animation was advertising, as there is no explicitly recognizable Nintendo character or branding throughout. The animation inspired many theories after it was dropped, with the most prevalent theory claiming it to be a promo for a new Pikmin game due to a song in the animation that seems to be a rendition of the Pikmin theme, as well as lore claiming that humans cannot see Pikmin with the naked eye. Another theory was that the baby in the animation is meant to be Baby Rosalina from the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy Movie. On October 8th, an updated version of the video was released on the Nintendo Today! app that adds Pikmin to the animation, confirming that it is Pikmin-related.
