Oh No He's Hot is a line said by Squidward Tentacles from SpongeBob SquarePants while imagining Squilliam Fancyson in underwear. The scene has been used as an exploitable template where various characters that Squidward imagines in underwear turn out to be attractive.

Origin

On March 15th, 2002, the third season, episode 48b of SpongeBob SquarePants titled "Squilliam Returns" premiered in the US.^[1] In the episode, Squidward takes a lunch break and meets Squilliam. At one point, Squilliam makes fun of Squidward, an in effort to keep his cool, Squidward tries to imagine Squilliam wearing underwear. Unfortunately, in Squidward's imagination, Squilliam has defined pecs and abs (scene shown below).

Spread

Over the following decades, the scene and audio grew into a popular meme template, as users replaced Squilliam in the scene with characters from various fandoms. For example, on May 20th, 2012, YouTube^[2] user Shallowpaw666 uploaded an edit featuring Avatar: The Legend of Korra characters. The video received more than 133,000 views in 11 years (shown below, left). On June 19th, 2017, YouTube^[3] user Monkey Trouble uploaded a similar edit using Attack on Titan characters. The video received 57,000 views in six years (shown below, right).

On January 8th, 2021, Reddit^[4] user Bayoubanshee uploaded an edit about League of Legends characters to /r/LeagueOfMemes subreddit. The post received more than 1,700 points in two years (shown below, left). On October 1st, 2021, Reddit^[5] user mdevey91 uploaded a four-panel edit using the character Ozai from Avatar: The Last Airbender to the /r/AvatarMemes subreddit. The post received more than 3,900 points in two years (shown below, right).
