P For Papas, It's a Papas Party is a song started on TikTok that cat owners make their cats dance to by stretching them on their hind legs and swaying them back and forth. The original video was created by TikToker Cody Rey (@codyrey_) in mid-May 2023 and led to multiple iterations from pet owners going into the following month as it went viral online.

Origin

On May 11th, 2023, TikToker^[1] @codyrey_ posted a video of his orange cat named Apollo who he stretched upwards on his hind legs, swaying him back and forth while singing a song that went, "P for Papas. It's a Papas Party!" Over the course of 19 days, the viral video gained roughly 15.9 million plays and 3.5 million likes (shown below).

After the TikTok's virality, others on the platform used @codyrey_'s TikTok^[2] sound to make similar videos with their cats. For instance, on May 12th, 2023, TikToker^[3] @maddfazz uploaded a video of her and her partner's cat doing the dance, gaining roughly 817,200 plays and 104,000 likes in 18 days (shown below, left). On May 23rd, TikToker^[4] @sillyysimon uploaded an iteration with his cat that received roughly 5 million plays and 1.3 million likes in one week (shown below, right).

Over the course of 19 days, @codyrey_'s TikTok^[2] sound had amassed roughly 29,200 videos using it.
