About
Paradox Entei Design Speculation refers to fan art Fakemon designs for a "Paradox" version of Gen II legendary Pokémon Entei. The designs began appearing after the introduction of Walking Wake, a Paradox variation on the Legendary Pokémon Suicune, and again after the introduction of Raging Bolt, a Paradox variation of Raikou, to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
Origin
On February 27th, 2023, Pokémon introduced Walking Wake, a Paradox version of Suicune.[1] In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Paradox Pokemon are versions of existing Pokémon that come either from the distant past (in Scarlet) or future (in Violet). Walking Wake is a past version of Suicune. Suicune is a part of the legendary dog Pokémon trio from the second generation of Pokémon games, along with Raikou and Entei.
The following day, people began speculating about a potential Paradox Entei design. For example, on February 28th, Twitter user @MacksFakemon[2] posted a potential design for Paradox Entei, calling it "Searing Spine." The piece gained over 420 retweets and 3,200 likes in five months (shown below).
Spread
Over the following months, several other posters offered Fakemon designs for Paradox Entei. On March 1st, 2023, user @bulbbyboi[3] posted a Fakemon dubbed "Feral Flare," gaining over 1,000 retweets and 7,700 likes in five months (shown below, left). On June 5th, user @_goldmills_[4] posted a Fakemon called "Striding Storch" that gained over 100 retweets and 570 likes in two months (shown below, right).
On August 8th, 2023, the design for the Paradox version of Raikou, Raging Bolt was revealed. However, its long-necked design shook the confidence of Pokémon, leading to more jokey Fakemon designs for Paradox Raikou. For example, that day, user @MerphISC[5] posted art of Entei dreading its Paradox form, gaining over 3,900 retweets and 16,000 likes in one day (shown below, left). The same day, user @Baronduki[6] posted a joke Fakemon that simply put Entei's head on a bat, gaining over 40 likes in one day (shown below, right).
