Demi Lovato is an American pop singer and actress best known for several popular songs including "Give Your Heart a Break" and "Cool for the Summer." She has also famously struggled with addiction, and has been open about her experiences dealing with addiction, depression, and body image issues.
History
Demi Lovato was born August 20th, 1992 in New Mexico, USA.[1] She appeared on Barney and Friends as a child, and came into the public eye when she appeared in the 2008 Disney Channel movie Camp Rock.
That year, she also released her debut album, Don't Forget. She continued working on Disney Channel projects and released another album, Here We Go Again in 2009. She took a hiatus from acting to focus on music in the early 2010s, coinciding with her 2011 album Unbroken, which gave Lovato her highest-charting single to date in "Skyscraper" (shown below, left). "Give Your Heart a Break" from the same record peaked at 16 on the Billboard chart (shown below, right).
Around the same time, Lovato appeared as a judge on The X Factor. She released three more albums over the course of the 2010s: Demi (2013), Confident (2014), and Tell Me You Love Me (2017). Tell Me You Love Me featured the song "Sober," which deals with Lovato's struggles with addiction.
Personal Struggles
Lovato struggled with depression, self-harm, and body-image issues as a teenager, and the effects have followed her throughout her career. In 2010, she withdrew from a tour with the Jonas Brothers for physical and emotional issues and went to rehab. It later came out that she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. In 2012, MTV aired a documentary, Demi Lovato: Stay Strong, about the singer's rehab and recovery. In 2017, it was revealed that she was still struggling with cocaine and alcohol addiction after the rehab and was using during the filming of the documentary. Her struggles have caused her to nearly overdose several times. On July 24th, 2018, she was rushed to the hospital after an apparent overdose. As of July 25th, she is still in the hospital and in stable condition.[2]
Online Presence
Online, Lovato has a very large social media following, with over 56 million Twitter followers,[3] 37 million Facebook likes,[4] and 70 million Instagram followers.[5]

Poot Lovato
"Poot Lovato": is the nickname given to American singer and actress Demi Lovato based on an unflattering photograph of the celebrity that was uploaded to Tumblr in October 2015. Since emerging online, the photograph has spawned a series of photoshopped parodies and a myth centered around the entirely fictional twin alter ego of Demi Lovato. On the red carpet before Demi's performance at the 2014 Royal Variety Performance at the Palladium Theater on November 13th, 2014, an unknown cell phone user took a snapshot of Demi Lovato. At some point, the photo was edited, possibly by the liquify and skew tools in Photoshop. As of November 3rd, 2015, both the original photographer and the original editor remain unknown.
On October 3rd, 2015, Tumblr user Versaceslut posted a sketch drawing of Demi Lovato based on the edited image of the pop star in the style of the "I Have Drawn You" fan art meme. In just a little over two weeks, the post garnered more than 75,000 notes.
