About
DitzyFlama is a content creator best known for his role in helping spread popular memes like Bongo Cat, Kirb, and Fat Yoshi. In the winter of 2018, he deleted his YouTube and Twitter accounts twice after receiving backlash for various reasons.
History
DitzyFlama first made an impact on the internet as a Roblox player, joining the site on July 16th, 2011.[1] He began rising to prominence online thanks to his role in popularizing Kirb. He published a video featuring the picture of the Kirby plush followed by the clip of the yawning axolotl, set to the song Flower Garden from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Within ten days, the tweet garnered more than 17,000 likes and 9,600 retweets. While the tweet no longer exists, a video by HomieTheHomie using the Kirb meme from March 1st credits DitzyFlama (shown below). He was also producing many Fat Yoshi memes during this time period (example shown below, right). Of note, on April 17th, he apologized for mass-producing Kirb memes and stated he would stop posting content.
He continued making memes, however. DitzyFlama was also instrumental in helping spread Bongo Cat. On May 7th, 2018, he responded to Twitter user @StrayRogue's GIF of an animated cat slapping a table by posting a video in which he'd edited the GIF to include bongos and added the song "Athletic" from the Super Mario World soundtrack (reupload shown below).[2] He also helped spread the Kraid's Music and Polar Bear GIF memes.
Reputation
DitzyFlama has on numerous occasions threatened to delete his channel, and has gone through with it twice. In addition to the April 17th, 2018 note he wrote stating he would stop posting content, he briefly deleted his channel and Twitter account in December of 2018, presumably because he had been receiving backlash for using the n-word in a tweet in 2015.[3][4] Both were reactivated shortly after.
Channel Deletion
On February 18th, 2019, DitzyFlama posted a video in which he angrily responded to criticisms that his memes were stale and that he was only doing memes "for money" (repost shown below).
The video was quickly mocked on Twitter by users to created remixes of the clip. User @ScorpGnarlyBich tweeted a parody that mixed the clip with audio from Arthur, gaining over 12 retweets and 65 likes (shown below, top). Other Twitter users joked by pairing clips of people freaking out with the caption "When someone tells DitzyFlama his jokes are repetitive," parodying what they saw as an overreaction on his part. For example, a tweet by @Memesauce469 using an Angry Video Game Nerd clip gained over 270 likes (shown below, bottom).
