About

Fausto Silva, Nicknamed as "Faustão" ("Big Fausto") is the host of the famous Brazilian audience show "Domingão do Faustão" (Big Fausto's Big Sunday), he started his television career in 1983 in the show "Balancê" as an announcer. He also made a movie along with another Brazilian celebrity, Sérgio Mallandro, which is one of the many popular instances of Faustão in the internet.

Remote Controlled Grill

One of the most popular scenes from Faustão's show is when he was presented to a Barbecue Grill which is activated by a remote controller, however, it didn't work properly and they had to put out the fire manually.

Faustão was so surprised he shouted the phrase: "Tá pegando fogo, bicho! (It's catching fire, man!)". This phrase became very popular in Brazil.

Dumb People at Faustão's "Suffocation" game

There was a time that in Domingão do Faustão, there was a block called "Sufoco" (Suffocation) where people had to collect hints and answer the question. One day, 3 people got to answer a question about a country with these hints:

1. It's an European country

2. Invaded Brazil in the past

3. It's the land of flowers and windmills

4. Took down Brazil in the last World Cup (considering it was 2011)

5. At the end of that World Cup, lost to Spain

6. Its language is Dutch.

The three people had, respectively, 4, 5, and 6 hints, and they answered, respectively, Spain, France and Italy.

Inspector Faustão and the Mallandro

In 1991, Fausto Silva, along with Sérgio Mallandro, made a movie called "Inspetor Faustão e o Mallandro" (Inspector Faustão and the Mallandro). Various phrases said by Faustão in the movie were marcant enough to be also used in YouTube Poops and other things, including the song "O Rap do Ovo" (The Rap of the Egg). The video below contains the famous scenes + The Rap of the Egg.

Sometimes I wish there were more arcticles for Brazilian memes here or, simply, that there was some Brazilian-equivalent Know Your Meme somewhere. There is so often some silly joke that starts spreading around here and I have no idea what it means/how it originated so I cannot help but have a "hey, I can check it out on KYM" thought fly over my head, but the next second I'm shattered because I remember that it's too huehuebr for KYM.
