Salman Khan is an Indian actor, producer, and TV personality that works in the Bollywood film industry. Salman Khan is widely recognized as one of the most commercially successful actors in the Indian film industry, despite facing a string of legal controversies spanning several decades.
Career
Salman Khan, son of notable Bollywood screenwriter Salim Khan, began his career with a supporting role in the 1988 film Biwi Ho To Aisi. He established himself as a prominent Indian actor in the 90s after several commercially successful films, including the 1999 films Hum Aapke Hai Koun, and Hum Saath-Saath Hain. After a mid-aughts slump, Salman re-entered popular Bollywood stardom with films like Dabangg (2010), Bodyguard (2011), and Dabangg 2 (2012). Khan has starred in the highest-grossing Hindi films from 2010 to 2020. [1]
Tere Naam (2003)
Khan's character "Radhe" from the 2003 Bollywood film Tere Naam has long been a popular staple in Indian memes. Radhe's distinctive hairstyle and tendency to smoke cigarettes have cemented him as an Indian literally me and sigma edits character. On 15th August 2017, Facebook[11] page Metronome posted a status commemorating Khan's hairstyle in the film, gathering over 800 reactions in six years (seen below, left). On May 13th, 2019, Twitter[12] user @HumbLTweets posted a tweet about Radhe's hair, gathering over 1,000 likes in three years (seen below, right).
On November 3rd, 2022, Instagram[14] page @mememandir posted a Radhe literally me edit, gathering over 13,000 likes in over two months. A Radhe Vs Walter White edit was posted to @mememandir[13] on December 24th, 2022, where it gathered over 16,000 views in over a month (shown below).

Controversies
Hit-And-Run Case
On September 28th, 2002, Khan was arrested for rash and negligent driving after getting into a car accident in Mumbai, killing one person sleeping on the pavement and injuring two others. He was charged with culpable homicide in 2013 and found guilty on all charges in 2015, including driving the car under the influence of alcohol, causing the death of one and serious injury to four homeless persons, as well as driving without a license.[2] Khan's driver Ashok Singh, who had given the testimony that he was driving the car at the time of the accident, was charged with perjury for misguiding the Court with false testimony and was arrested.[3] Khan was sentenced to five years in prison but released on bail pending an appeal in March 2015. In December 2015, he was acquitted of all charges due to a lack of evidence. The kidnapping and eventual death of prime witness police constable Ravindra Patil remain unsolved.[4]

Blackbuck hunting and Arms Act violations cases
Khan allegedly shot and killed an endangered blackbuck during the filming of the 1999 film Hum Saath-Saath Hain in a forested area near Jodhpur, Rajasthan. In 2007, Khan spent a week in Jodhpur jail under the charges of poaching endangered antelopes under the Wildlife (Protection Act and using firearms with an expired license under the Arms Act.[7] He was acquitted by the Rajasthan High court in 2016. In 2018, Khan was convicted in the blackbuck poaching case and sentenced to five years imprisonment. He has been released on bail, pending appeal, as of 2023.[8]

Jurm? refers to a series of exploitable phrasal template memes that depict someone getting arrested alongside a humorous caption for what their crime was. The memes began with a series of jokes featuring Bollywood actor Salman Khan being arrested with a text overlay that read, "Jurm?" meaning "Crime?" followed by a joke. The memes began to circulate in late 2021.
