Ab Underground Hone Ka Samay Aa Gaya Hai is a reaction image and exploitable meme that stems from the 2012 Indian Bollywood crime movie Gangs of Wasseypur. On June 22nd, 2012, the Indian crime movie Gangs Of Wasseypur was released. The film does not contain a scene where protagonist Sardar Khan (played by Manoj Bajpayee) says "Ab underground hone ka samay aa gaya hai," which translates to, "the time has come to go underground." The earliest known use of the image is a July 3rd, 2015 post by Twitter^[2] user @EngineeRoholic, gathering over 800 likes and 1,400 retweets in eight years (seen below).

The image continued to be sporadically used between 2015 and 2018.^[3][4][5] However, the earliest known viral use of the image is an October 9th, 2019 post by Instagram^[6] page @bhadipa, where it gathered over 11,000 likes in three years (seen below, left). On September 22, 2019, Instagram^[7] page @deadlylaw posted a version of the meme, gathering nearly 1000 likes in three years (seen below, right).

On December 7th, 2019, Instagram^[8] page @upscmeme posted a version of the meme that gathered over 5,000 likes in three years (seen below, left). On January 3rd, 2020, Instagram^[9] page @webseriesmania posted a deleted tweet that used the meme, gathering over 1,000 likes in three years (seen below, right).
