Pomni Eating a Burger or Pomni Eating a Sandwich is a fan art trend and meme in which artists draw Pomni from The Amazing Digital Circus eating a sandwich or hamburger. The trend is a reference to a pose Pomni makes when she enters the Amazing Digital Circus in the series' teaser, her hands up in front of her open mouth as if she was mid-bite, when she was brought into the circus. Artwork depicting Pomni eating sandwiches or burgers started appearing online as early as January 2023. In July 2024, the trend inspired a specific redraw trend on X / Twitter.

Origin

On January 27th, 2023, YouTuber^[1] Gooseworx posted a teaser for his animation, The Amazing Digital Circus, garnering over 13 million views in a year. At the 00:25-second mark, Pomni is revealed behind a curtain, hunched over, with her empty hands raised to her mouth, the implication being that she was eating a sandwich when she was brought to the Circus (shown below).

On January 28th, X^[2] user @Jump_Jump_69 posted an original artwork depicting Pomni eating a sandwich at night, writing, "Moments before disaster," garnering over 820 likes in a year (shown below). This is the earliest known fan art depicting Pomni eating a sandwich.

Artwork depicting Pomni eating a sandwich or, alternatively a burger, became increasingly popular throughout 2023 and 2024. On October 16th, 2023, X^[3] user @TheInkyWay posted a piece of art redrawing the sandwich scene, garnering over 9,800 likes in nine months (shown below, left). On April 23rd, 2024, X^[4] user @GMaster36 posted a piece of art depicting Pomni eating a burger that gained over 2,300 likes in three months (shown below, right).

On July 17th, 2024, X^[5] user @glitch_prod posted an animation of Pomni eating a burger alone in a fast food restaurant, garnering over 141,000 likes and 22,000 reposts in a week (shown below). The video inspired a wave of redraws and pieces of fan art in which Pomni eats burgers.

On July 19th, X^[6] user @bleedmanbruh posted a piece of artwork inspired by the video that gained over 34,000 likes in five days (shown below, left). On July 22nd, X^[7] user @Mee_Kki posted a piece of art showing Pomni eating a burger at the Krusty Krab from SpongeBob SquarePants, garnering over 4,800 likes in two days (shown below, right). On the same day, Tumblr^[8] user theartblogloxley posted a piece of fan art that gained over 500 notes in two days.
