About

The RFK Jr. Dog Photo, also known as the RFK Jr. Eating Barbecued Dog Photo, refers to a photograph leaked by Vanity Fair showing U.S. Presidential candidate and Kennedy family member Robert F. Kennedy Jr. holding a dead and barbecued animal, reportedly a dog, with an unidentified woman. The photo spread in mid-2024 after Vanity Fair reported that it was taken in South Korea and that the carcass was a canine, confirmed by its number of ribs (13). RFK Jr. denied the claim, alleging that it was a goat in the photo and that it was taken in Patagonia, Argentina. The image spread on social media sites like Twitter / X and Reddit in mid-2024, resulting in viral discourse and memes.

Origin

On July 2nd, 2024, Vanity Fair[1] published an article called "RFK Jr.’s Family Doesn’t Want Him to Run. Even They May Not Know His Darkest Secrets." The article was written by Joe Hagan and it relayed stories from insider sources about Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s "darkest secrets."

In one section, Hagan revealed a photograph showing RFK Jr. holding a barbecued animal carcass, about to take a bite of it, while a woman does the same with another piece of meat next to him (shown below).

Vanity Fair reported that RFK Jr. texted the photo to a friend who was traveling to Asia, telling him that "he might enjoy a restaurant in Korea that served dog on the menu." Per this, it was inferred that RFK Jr. was holding a barbecued dog. Vanity Fair reportedly spoke to a veterinarian who confirmed that the carcass was a canine, noting the number of ribs (13) and "the tell-tale 'floating rib' found in dogs." Vanity Fair also referenced RFK Jr.'s brain worm in the same paragraph (Vanity Fair excerpt, shown below).

The photo was taken in 2010, according to the digital file's metadata—the same year he diagnosed with a dead tapeworm in his brain. RFK Jr.'s Goat Claim

On July 2nd, 2024, RFK Jr. posted a tweet to his X[4] account denying Vanity Fair's claim. He started by writing, "Hey
@VanityFair, you know when your veterinary experts call a goat a dog, and your forensic experts say a photo taken in Patagonia was taken in Korea, that you’ve joined the ranks of supermarket tabloids." In an hour, the tweet received over 5,300 likes (shown below).

Hey @VanityFair, you know when your veterinary experts call a goat a dog, and your forensic experts say a photo taken in Patagonia was taken in Korea, that you've joined the ranks of supermarket tabloids. Keep telling America that up is down if you want. I'll keep talking about the fact that working families can't afford houses or groceries because our last two presidents went on a $14 trillion debt joyride, paid for by hard- working Americans. The DNC media's garbage pail journalism may distract us from President Biden's cognitive deficits but it does little to elevate the national debate or reduce the price of groceries. 3:24 PM Jul 2, 2024 74.3K Views

Americans seeing Cabrito for the first time in their lives…

Cabrito asado is a regional dish in my region of Mexico too. Nothing out of the ordinary. I can tell you that's a goat, only some pieces of meat have already been cut from it.
