There Was A Healing is a series of memes where a PNG of big, wet eyes and a pacifier is edited onto images of characters or people alongside a variation of the catchphrase, "There was a healing," including examples using the phrasal template, "There was a X."

The memes are inspired by a September 2024 meme posted by X user @aIexrudd where the big eyes have been edited onto Chris and Peter Griffin from Family Guy. It was further popularized on TikTok between 2025 and 2026 after an upload by @enzoswordskill, inspiring further memes referencing the original.

Origin

On September 26th, 2024, X^[1] use @aIexrudd posted an image of Family Guy season 17, episode 13, "Trans-Fat," where Chris Griffin tells his father, Peter Griffin, "There was a shooting at school." The post reads, "does anyone know how to be happy," gaining over 7,500 likes in two years.

Later that day, X user @ commented, "6 beers. 10 cigarettes. New woman by lalisa ft rosalia. Flirt with old man on grindr then block him. Family guy funny moments compilation. IN. THAT. ORDER." X^[2] user and OP @alexrudd responded, "imma try that!" and shared an edit of the "there was a shooting scene" where Chris and Peter have been given big, wet eyes and the caption now reads, "There was a healing." The post gained over 550 likes in two years.

Spread

The meme began to inspire variations as early as June 2025.

For example, on June 2nd, 2025, Instagram^[3] user joan.of.arca posted a Family Guy image of Peter in drag captioned, "She was a fairy," writing in the description, "There was a healing," gaining over 8,100 likes in a year.

On August 5th, TikToker^[4] @enzoswordskill posted an edit of the "There was a healing" meme where the original "there was a shooting" image is transformed into "there was a healing" by a fairy, garnering over 484,000 views in a year.

On October 31st, 2025, TikToker^[5] @xinyume posted a video where she lip syncs to "David" by Lorde while wearing cutouts of the blue eyes from the meme, gaining over 34,000 views in seven months.

On November 15th, Redditor u/Content_Debt_8386 made a post to the /r/ExplaintheJoke^[6] subreddit asking for the context of the meme, gaining about 80 upvotes in six months.

On April 21st, 2026, X^[7] user @beyoncesspamacc posted a video edit of the "thick thighs p---y salad" meme that references the "there was a healing" meme, garnering over 34,000 likes and 8,000 reposts in a month.
