Rich Black Guy's "SpiderVerse of Madness" Skit refers to a short viral video posted by YouTuber Rich Black Guy in which he acts as Spider-Man traveling to an alternate universe, a la Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and discussing with that universe's Spider-Man the various small differences between their two realms. The skit uses synonymous terms for well-known characters and media properties for its jokes, such as calling Iron Man "The Tungsten Gentleman." In November 2023, the skit inspired a series of tweets and posts in which people used the format with the phrasal template "You Guys Got X? Nah, We Got Y" to retitle popular video games using synonyms.

Origin

On December 9th, 2021, YouTuber Rich Black Guy uploaded a YouTube Short^[1] in which he acts as Spider-Man traveling to an alternate universe and learning about the subtle differences between his and another Spider-Man's universe, with all the jokes using synonymous terms for well-known characters and media properties. The video gained over 1.5 million likes in two years (shown below).

On November 10th, 2023, Twitter / X user @TheMistressDove^[2] posted two screenshots of the skit to make a joke in its style, writing, "'You guys have Kingdom Hearts? / 'We've got Monarchy Souls.'" The tweet gained over 230 retweets and 840 likes in three days (shown below).

The tweet subsequently set off a series of quote tweets over the next few days in which people added similar variations of the joke. For example, on November 11th, Twitter user @cardrobot^[3] tweeted an example with Hollow Knight,, gaining over 60 retweets and 340 likes in two days (shown below, left). The same day, user @CrestedThunder^[4] did a variation with God of War, gaining over 75 retweets and 350 likes in two days (shown below, right).
