Seven-Page Muda refers to a seven-page sequence from the Japanese manga series JoJo's Bizarre Adventure in which character Giorno Giovanna beats up minor antagonist Cioccolata with his stand while continuously shouting stand cries "MUDA" and "WRYYYY". The sequence grew to become a popular meme among the manga fans and one of the most anticipated scenes to appear in part five of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure anime adaptation.

Origin

On August 10th, 1998, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure chapter 562 was released in Weekly Shonen Jump №35.^[1] In the chapter, character Giorno Giovanna beats up minor antagonist Cioccolata using his stand Gold Experience. The scene is shown in seven sequential panels (six in the original Weekly Shonen Jump issue) in which the stand punches Cioccolata while Giorno is continuously shouting stand cries "MUDA" and "WRY" (panels shown below).

Spread

The sequence gained significant popularity among JoJo's Bizarre Adventure fans, with fan-made GIFs and voiceovers based on the scene posted online. For example, on May 10th, 2013, Tumblr user destructionsword posted several GIFs based on the panels, with the post gaining over 540 likes and reblogs in six years.^[2]

On September 12th, 2018, YouTube user Riverdude Covers uploaded a fan voice-over of the fight between Giorno Giovanna and Cioccolata,^[3] with the video gaining over 229,000 views in eight months.

In anticipation of the scene being shown in episode 31 of part five of the anime adaptation, numerous memes referencing the scene were posted online, primarily in /r/ShitpostCrusaders subreddit.

In the Anime

On May 24th, episode 31 "Green Day and Oasis, Part 2" of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure anime premiered in Japan. In the episode, the scene of the beatdown, approximately 30 seconds long, is shown.^[4]
