Sheriff Hopper's Holiday Sweater refers to a series of photoshopped images using a picture of actor David Harbour in character as Sheriff Hopper from Stranger Things wearing a small, red holiday cardigan.
Origin
On December 11th, 2017, actor David Harbour posted picture of him in costumer as Sheriff Hopper from the science fiction series Stranger Things on Instagram. [1] The post was made in reference to his 2017 Golden Globe nomination, which he mentioned in the image caption. He writes, "I tip my hat to you @goldenglobes for the nomination. My Christmas present came early this year. You got me feeling all the holiday feels🎉🎁" Within three days, the post (shown below) received more than 500,000 likes.

That day, Redditor [2] In-Jail-Out-Soon posted the picture in the /r/photoshopbattles subreddit. The thread, which encouraged other Redditors to manipulate the image in unique ways, received more than 30,000 points (88% upvoted) and 270 comments in three days (examples below).
