About

"Shut Up Your Mouse Obama" is a memorable quote said by a middle-aged Egyptian woman in accusing U.S. President Barack Obama and the American government of meddling in her country's affairs during an interview with a TV news crew at a protest in February 2014. Partially delivered in broken English, the woman's rant went viral in the Middle East after the news clip was uploaded to YouTube on March 6th, 2014.

Origin

During the February 2014 Egyptian parliamentary elections, a local news channel interviewed an unidentified woman who immediately began telling Barack Obama to "shut up your mouse" before voicing her support for Egyptian military commander Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and denouncing former President Mohammad Al-Morsi. On February 26th, 2014, the شبكة يقين الإخبارية YouTube channel uploaded the interview to YouTube (shown below).

)

"Listen your Obama. We are Egyptian women. You are listen, Obama? Shut up your mouse, Obama. Shut your mouse, Obama! Sisi yes, Sisi yes. Morsi no, Morsi no. Sisi yes, Sisi yes. Morsi no, Morsi no."

On the following day, Al Arabiya's editor in chief Faisal J. Abbas tweeted photographs of two T-shirts with a screen captured image of the unidentified Egyptian woman above the caption "Shut Up Your Mouse Obama!" In the coming days, several other English-speaking news sites published articles about the video, including The Blaze,[5] VC Post[6] and The Washington Times.[7]

Recently, a new video has popped up with the woman at a rally. Instagrammer "fawaz_Alfahad" has ripped the video and auto-tuned it to the music of Justin Bieber's Baby.

He has also uploaded snippet from a a new interview. This time, she seemed solemn and unhappy than from previous videos.

"This is message to Obama. Again to Obama. We are Egyptian women. I wanted to say you, why?"

This was a response to the United States' alleged support of the Muslim Brotherhood, an extremist group on the verge of arrest in Egypt.
