About

DLive is a video live-streaming website built on blockchain technology. Its mission, according to its founders, is to put streamers and creators first, promising them 100 percent of the revenue generated from subscriptions. In 2019, YouTuber PewDiePie, the world's most successful YouTub creator at the time, announced an exclusive streaming deal with the platform.

History

DLive was founded in December 2017 and launched in September 2019 by Charles Wayn.[1][2]

Features

DLive works in a similar fashion to live streams on YouTube or Twitch. Streamers broadcast themselves to viewers, who can search the site through a search field or by what is streaming at that moment.

DLive is built on a Lino blockchain technology for the purpose of rewarding creators, viewers and subscribers. The company promises that 100% of the revenue brought by subscribers and viewers, either through donations or subscriptions, goes either to the creators or the community. 90.1% goes directly to the creators, while the other 9.9% goes to a community pool for users that have "Locked LINO Points," users that tend to use the service on a daily basis. Creators also have the opportunity to receive bonuses from the company based on their "the number and reputation of people who have donated to your stream."

Users, too, have the opportunity to be rewarded for their patronage. The website states, "DLive, not only appreciates viewer involvement but also directly rewards viewers for watching, chatting, gifting and sharing content."[3]

"If you don't like it, make your own platform."

I hope that that will generally occur like this.

More freedom for the viewers and streamers, as opposed to political balkanization.

I would like to think that just about everyone can enjoy having more freedom at some point.

Pewdiepie is exclusively streaming on the direct competition of huge ass service known as Twitch…..So how long until DLive gets deplatformed because it "Supports Neo-Nazi's" or some other bullshit that Polygon and Kotaku will make up.
