About

WarriorMale is a Tumblr blog which roleplays the celebration of manliness through combat in the ancient Greek tradition. Their posts often feature wisdom for men presented in bolded text. While the sincerity of the blog is subject to debate, the blog's hyper-masculine style, general positivity, inclusivity of gay, trans, and men with disabilities, and its respect for women has helped it generate a large following on Tumblr.

History

WarriorMale launched on October 3rd, 2014.[1] Its first post, which now serves as the "About" section of the blog, reads:

This site celebrates the manly Warrior Male, in the ancient Greek tradition. We are men who train and fight daily. We can be found in all walks of life. Just like the ancient Greek palestra, we train in the fight schools, working on perfecting our technique depending on the fight tradition chosen, and there are many worldwide. Some of us, imitating the Greek tradition, also fight each other nude. We have a strict moral warrior code, with loyalty, humility, respect and selfless behavior in high regard. We put training and fighting first, always before hedonism and money. Where money is prized, manliness is despised.

Over the course of three and a half years, WarriorMale continued posting in that character, giving wisdom to men centered on physical strength. Often, the blog accompanies the text with pictures of muscular men wrestling or engaging in physical activity (examples shown below).

WREST ERFA Manly Men, Men who fight, have enormous Self Control. They must have this self mastery in order to train and fight. This characteristic, or attribute of Manliness, is a Moral Virtue of a Manly Man. Manly Men are Moral Men, Virtuous Men. Manly Men love their Manliness, which is Virtuous. Self Control is very Manly! WarriorMale Physical affection after a fight is very common between fighters. A sloppy Man Kiss after a hard fight. Only one Man can win. Fighting produces and nourishes Manliness. Manly Men, Men who fight, Really love their Manliness. The love of Manliness is called Eros. Eros Bonds Manly Men. Train and fight! Always seek Manliness! WarriorMale

In addition to prizing fighting, WarriorMale has also expressed inclusive stances on non-heterosexual men. For example, they have expressed his stance that trans men are men (shown below, left) and has also expressed inclusivity towards gay men (shown below, right).

How can men who are too disabled to fight physically still be manly? Not disabilities like missing limbs that can be worked around, but chronic pain, neurological disorders, male degeneration, ALS, etc. which make fighting and training impossible. social-darwin-awards You may not realize this but you are fighting already! Your battle is against the physical disorders and pain from these disease states that are so tough! I deeply admire a Man who fights this daily battle. We fighters can learn mental toughness from Men like you. Please keep visiting this blog and messaging me. We need your support! Thank you for the kind words and the show of Respect.
