Me, An Intellectual is a popular dialogue snowclone on Tumblr in which the character "me, an intellectual" uses needlessly formal language to correct well-known colloquial phrases (i.e. calling a "Slim Jim" a "Slender James").

Origin

On June 6th, 2016, Tumblr user wrecknian[1] posted a text post that reads "me, an intellectual: (passing my buddy a slim jim) would you care for this Slender James?" The post has gained over 115,000 notes as of December 15th, 2016.

Over the course of the next several months, posts featuring the "Me, an intellectual" character spread widely on Tumblr, the meme evolving to include a character that "me, an intellectual" would correct. On October 3rd, 2016, Buzzfeed[2] posted a listicle of some of the funnier examples on Tumblr. On October 16th, Reddit user Cryomatic[3] posted a screenshot of an argument about the grammar in "me, an intellectual" to /r/Tumblr in a post that gained 370 points. The dialogue,[4] shown below, has over 114,000 notes on Tumblr.
