Skeledirge is the confirmed, purported final evolution of the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet fire type starter Pokémon Fuecoco. The character design for the Pokémon was possibly revealed as part of a series of leaks that spread ten days before the release of the game, alongside Meowscarada and Quaquaval.

Origin

On November 8th, 2022, there was a massive leak of supposed information about the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, including the full evolution lines of Sprigatito, Fuecoco and Quaxly. That day, Redditor Hatefull_creeper2 posted the design for Skeledirge, the supposed final evolution for Fuecoco, in /r/PokeLeaks,^[1] gaining over 2,800 points in eight days (shown below).

Spread

Just like Meowscarada and Quaquaval, the design of Skeledirge spread on social media and fan art followed, as some users expressed their appreciation of the Pokémon's design. For example, on November 9th, 2022, echhigoblin^[2] posted art^[3] that gained over 10 retweets and 138 likes in seven days (shown below, left). User @tangalcon^[6] posted art of Skeledirge that gained over 730 retweets and 7,600 likes in nine days (shown below, right).

Also Skeledirge spread on TikTok, where Skeledirge fights other Pokémon. For example, on November 12th, 2022, user NickCucc^[4] upload a clip^[5] where they catch a Glaceon with Skeledirge gaining over 2,179 likes in four days (shown below).
