Snowball Kiss / Snowballing (Slang)

Snowball Kiss or Snowballing is a slang term referring to the sexual act of finishing in one person's mouth or other orifice and then proceeding to have the ejaculate transferred from that place into the mouth of another recipient. Snowballing as an act has been decried online as being incredibly unhygienic, though memes about it come from how innocent it sounds as most assume it is referring to a snowball fight (similar to other slang like "sounding").

Origin

The exact coining of the term "snowballing" in relation to the explicit act online is unknown, but instances of it began appearing around late 2003, particularly on Urban Dictionary.

On August 15th, 2003, Urban Dictionary user A Friend^[1] uploaded a definition to the site, describing "snowballer" as "a person who sucks dick, gets cummed in his/her mouth, then makes out with the person while still having cum in their mouth." This definition, which was later expanded on, received over 170 upvotes in 20 years (shown below).

On December 16th, 2003, Urban Dictionary user Top Dog^[2] uploaded a definition that more closely follows the meaning of the term in its most common context. In gaming, "snowballing" is what happens when your character grows in strength consistently, rising in power as you continue to progress, similar to a snowball rolling down a hill that increases in size as it picks up more snow. The definition provided by Top Dog describes a Sex Game in which multiple people are involved with the amount of semen increasing from one person to another, like a snowball (shown below).

Initially, the term was the subject of image macros intended to pique curiosity about the term, usually portraying someone who misunderstood what it meant. For example, on July 22nd, 2017, Imgflip user richardgross006^[3] uploaded a Grandma Finds The Internet meme in which a grandma is stumbling upon the act of snowballing for the first time, saying that in her day it was just throwing snow at each other (shown below).

In the early 2020s, the slang also began appearing on TikTok as it gained notoriety online. For example, on June 22nd, 2022, TikToker @jessbejuicy posted a video discussing it, receiving over 182,000 views in roughly a year (seen below).

On August 19th, 2023, iFunny user Nipple_Itches^[4] uploaded a picture of an Alien from the Alien franchise kissing a man at sunset, with the mouth extender fully going through his skull. This image was captioned with a description of snowballing, saying that the feeling of her pretending to swallow and spitting it back into your mouth is similar to getting one's skull crushed by an alien kiss (shown below).

The term has been defined by numerous publications online, including Cosmopolitan^[5] and Distractify.^[6]
