Spider-Man Explaining Zendaya refers to an object labeling image macro series based on a candid, behind-the-scenes photograph of actors Tom Holland and Zendaya on the set of the 2019 Marvel superhero film Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Origin

In July 2019, Spider-Man: Far From Home director Jon Watts posted a behind-the-scenes photograph of production on his Instagram. The story has since been deleted, but the image was posted by Tumblr [1] user peternedmj on July 8th, 2019 (shown below).

That day, Instagram[2] account @tomholland updates posted a cropped version of the image. The post received more than 16,000 likes in less than one month.

On July 17th, 2019, Redditor [3] posted the image in the /r/dankmemestemplates subreddit.

That day, Redditor[4] H-P-Loveshaft posted an object-labeled variation of the meme, referencing the Storm Area 51 event, in the /r/dankmemes subreddit. the psot received more than 51,000 points (98% upvoted) and 200 comments in less than two weeks (shown below, left).

Over the next week, others shared variations of the meme, expressing feelings of dismissal by others (shown below, center and right).
