About
What About Thor? refers to a series of image macros that use a portion of dialogue from the trailer for the 2019 Marvel superhero film Spider-Man: Far From Home. In the format, people add a punchline to the dialogue, using the original text as the setup.
Origin
On May 6th, 2019, Sony Pictures released the trailer for the film Spider-Man: Far From Home. In the trailer, the characters Nick Fury and Maria Hill propose a mission to Spider-Man (portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders and Tom Holland, respectively). The dialogue reads:
Spider-Man: Thor?
Nick Fury: Off-world.
Spider-Man: Captain Marvel?
Maria Hill: Unavailable.
Following the release of the trailer, people began using the exchange as a setup for various jokes.
