About
#TomHollandBetterPrayUp is a hashtag based on a lyric from the song "Zendaya" by Canadian rapper Golden G. Many have used the tag to make jokes about Spider-Man: Far From Home stars Tom Holland and Zendaya's alleged romantic relationship, which both have since denied, particularly regarding Holland's fear that Zendaya may fall for the rapper.
Origin
On July 10th, 2019, rapper Golden G released the song "Zendaya." The song, an ode to actress Zendaya, features the lyrics "Tom Holland better pray up," referencing Holland and Zendaya's alleged relationship and Holland's need to pray to remain in the relationship. Two days later, the rapper published a video for the song on YouTube, where it received more than 58,000 views in fives days (shown below).

On July 14th, Twitter [1] user @ephoriadaya tweeted, "OMG WE SHOULD MAKE TOM HOLLAND BETTER PRAY UP TRENDING ON TWITTER SO HE CAN SEE ITSKSKSK / #TomHollandBetterPrayUp i am so committed oh my god." The inital tweet received more than 140 likes in three days (shown below, left).
Following the post, others began posting images and videos jokingly representing Holland's reaction to the song. For example, on July 14th, Twitter[2] user @m4rtsss tweeted a photograph of Holland, imagining his response to the song. The post received more than 11,000 likes and 1,000 retweets in three days (shown below, center). Twitter[3] user @SadbutProud tweeted a photograph of Lois Griffin from Family Guy with a clown emoji on her face. They captioned the post, "Golden G thinking he can take Zendaya from Spiderman." The post received more than 7,700 likes and 1,000 retweets in three days (shown below, right).
Twitter user @ohcarys tweeted a video from the Marvel Cinematic Universe of characters looking at each other confused. The post received more than 293,000 views, 9,000 likes and 1,000 retweets in three days (shown below).
Several media outlets covered the hashtag, including PopBuzz[4] and Heavy.[5]
