ASMR Mommy or Mommy GF Roleplay refers to a series of ASMR videos where the creator plays the role of either a "mommy" in the traditional sense, whispering comforting and caring things into the microphone, or a dominant Mommy GF type, whispering sexually charged demands and orders into the microphone. The earliest known video like this was uploaded to YouTube in December 2012 and became increasingly popularized over the course of the decade. The videos are often paired with images of anime women.

History

On December 8th, 2012, YouTuber^[1] Accidentally Graceful ASMR posted a video titled "ASMR Role Play | The one where I mother you. :)" where she whispers at the viewer as if she's a mother caring for a child with a fever, offering nurturing words of encouragement throughout (shown below). The video gained over 162,000 views in nine years.

Online Presence

The trend spread on YouTube over the following decade, with more sexually charged versions also becoming more common, likely propelled by memes about the "dominant mommy GF." YouTuber^[2][3] Karuna Satori ASMR started making mommy ASMR videos in 2017, with her first video (shown below, left) gaining over 2 million views in five years and an upload where she plays a mommy cleaning her child's ear gaining over 7 million views in four years (shown below, right).

On April 14th, 2021, YouTuber^[4] SkittyKat uploaded an ASMR mommy video, gaining over 499,000 views in 10 months (shown below, left). On November 18th, YouTuber^[5] dafoxx ASMR posted one where she comforts the listener to sleep, gaining over 591,000 views in three months (shown below, right).

Mae ASMR

On July 16th, 2021, YouTuber^[6] mae asmr posted her first video to YouTube, titled "ASMR mommy rp | let me help you sleep ♥" where she whispers to the listener telling them to relax and get comfy, gaining over 16,100 views in seven months (shown below). She continued to upload mommy ASMR videos.

On January 2nd, 2022, mae asmr uploaded^[7] titled "ASMR dominant mommy gf controls you | mommy rp ♥" where she whispers caring demands at the listener, gaining over 81,800 views in a month (shown below, left). On January 29th, YouTuber^[8] MENTLE posted a meme using the audio where Gumball from The Amazing World of Gumball walks in on Banana Joe listening to the video, gaining over 56,000 views in just under three weeks (shown below, right).
