BeerBiceps is a YouTube channel run by Ranveer Allahbadia, an Indian YouTuber, fitness enthusiast and self-help coach known for his podcast The Ranveer Show in which he interviews various celebrities and internet personalities. The YouTuber first began uploading content to his channel in 2015 and grew into one of India's biggest influencers by 2020, boasting over 4 million subscribers on his YouTube as of late 2022.

History

Background

Ranveer Allahbadia was born in June 1993 in Mumbai, Maharashtra to parents Gautam Allahbadia and Swasti Allahbadia. After completing his K-12 schooling at Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai, he graduated from the Dwarka Das J. Sanghvi College of Engineering with a B.E. (Bachelor of Education) in Electronics and Telecommunications. He briefly invested in an unsuccessful Google Play fitness app also called "BeerBiceps" in 2015.^[10]

YouTube and Podcast

On August 15th, 2015, Ranveer posted his first YouTube^[1] upload to his channel, titled "The Introduction | BeerBiceps." The video focussed on his fitness journey and acted as an introduction to his India-specific fitness-related content. It has since gathered over 260,000 views in nearly seven years (seen below, left). On December 10th, 2016, Ranveer uploaded his first vlog,^[2] gathering over 170,000 views in six years (seen below, right).

The earliest YouTube^[3] upload to use the title of his podcast. The Ranveer Show. was uploaded on March 25th, 2017, titled "Why Should Women Lift Weights? | Kripa Jalan On The Ranveer Show." The video has since gathered over 400,000 views in five years (seen below, left). The earliest official episode of The Ranveer Show was uploaded to his YouTube^[4] and Spotify on June 21st, 2019, where it gathered over 490,000 views in three years (seen below, right).

Online Presence

BeerBiceps' highest viewed video as of December 2022 is a March 8th, 2019, interview with fellow Indian YouTuber Carry Minati,^[5] which gathered over 9.6 million views in three years (seen below, left). Another popular upload was posted on May 2nd, 2017, titled "How To Dress Well For Indian Men,"^[6] with over 7.8 million views in five years (seen below, right).

Ranveer also hosted various celebrities on his podcast, including Priyank Chopra,^[7] Saif Ali Khan^[8] and Tanmay Bhatt.^[9]

Criticisms

Despite his virality on various social media platforms since emerging online in the mid-2010s, Ranveer has faced criticism from some for purportedly misrepresenting his wealth and background in the context of making motivational self-help and self-improvement content. Primary critiques against Ranveer revolve around him being perceived by some as "cringe," peddling pseudoscience, having below average Hindi skills and speaking in a "Bandra" (an affluent part of Mumbai) accent.
