Borat 2 (official title: Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan) is an upcoming comedy film starring Sacha Baron Cohen. It is the sequel to 2004's Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.

History

On August 18th, 2020, TikToker [1] @alexandheir shared video footage of Borat 2's production. The video, shot from a smartphone camera from an adjacent car, features Sacha Baron Cohen in costume driving as a camera crew tows his car and films. The post received more than 2.8 million views, 231,000 reactions and 2,200 comments in less than two months (shown below).

On September 29th, 2020, Deadline[2] reported that Amazon acquired the rights to the sequel. They announced that Amazon would release the film in late October on Amazon Prime in 240 countries and territories. They continue:

The Borat sequel was the first movie made during the COVID-19 shutdown, shot surreptitiously as quickly as coronavirus shooting restrictions were eased, and unions were in agreement on a return to shooting.

The following day, the verified Amazon Prime Video account published a teaser trailer for the film. The post received more than 88,000 views in less than 24 hours (shown below, left). The following day, the account featured the full trailer for the film. The post received more than 25,000 views in less than 24 hours (shown below, right). The trailer announced a release date of October 23rd, 2020

Within six hours of the trailer's release, the video received more than 6,900 points (87% upvoted) and 715 comments on the /r/video[3] subreddit.

Judging from the trailer, there were people who instantly recognized him, but considering the type of people he goes after are those who probably don't keep up with parody media, it's possible, especially since 14 years have past and people are prone to forget.
