About
Elder Cactus is a webcomic written by Tim Lavoie which grew in popularity thanks to its "Tony Lazuto" comics starring a bumbling hitman who kills in the name of his boss, Lazuto.
History
Tim Lavoie began posting comics in September of 2019 under the handle Elder Cactus.[1] The comic's Facebook[2] page and subreddit[3] launched on September 11th (first comic posted below). On October 14th, he posted the first of what would become his most popular series, the "Tony Lazuto" strips, featuring a hitman who misunderstands his boss and goes on a killing spree.[4] The comic gained 970 reactions on Facbeook[6] (shown below, right).
Online Presence
Elder Cactus has grown a small following in five months. It has gained over 12,000 likes on Facebook,[2] 10,000 followers on Twitter,[5] and a subreddit with over 730 subscribers.[3] Lavoie also produced a pilot animation called "Knight Quest," which was posted to YouTube on October 24th, 2017 (shown below).
Other popular strips include a strip called "Teen Rating" which gained over 85,000 points in /r/gaming[7] (shown below, left) and a strip called "Almighty High" which gained over 24,000 points in /r/funny.[8]
Tony Lazuto
On October 22nd, Elder Cactus posted the first of his followups in his series of "Tony Lazuto" strips[4] (shown below, left). He posted follow-ups on October 23rd (shown below, left) and November 10th (shown below, right).
