About
Megas XLR is a cartoon created by Jody Schaeffer and George Krstic[7], that was premiered on Cartoon Network from May 1st, 2004 till January 15th, 2005 which revolves around the adventures of Coop, his best friend Jamie and Kiva as they fight evil villains and aliens using a robot from the future with a car for a head.
Plot
The story follows about a futuristic robot called Megas (Mechanized Earth Guard Attack System), that was supposed to be used against the evil alien race known as the "Glorft", but it got caught in a time warp along with futuristic pilot Kira and was sent hurdling back in time to New Jearsy, where a car mechanic by the name of Coop finds and modifies the vehicle to his own liking. Now Coop alongside his best friend Jamie, and Kiva must stop the alien race from destroying planet Earth, and find a way to send the robot back to the future to defeatt the Glorft once and for all.
History
The show's pilot episode "LowBrow" premiered in 2002 during Cartoon Network's Cartoon Cartoon Weekend Summerfest. Due to its high ratings by the viewers, the show was aired in Toonami on May 1st, 2004. The show lasted for two seasons before being cancelled on January 15, 2005[1].
Reception
The show had done wonderfully during it's time on the air. It was so popular that it had the number 4th spot on Toonzone's "Toons of the 2000s: Top 5 Original Cartoons". The show currently holds an 8.4 user rating in IMDb[2] and an 8.6 rating in Tv.com[3].
Fandom
On April 8th, 2005, Urban Dictionary user Coop submitted an entry regarding the show which contains the lyrics of the theme of the show[8]. 4chan's /co/ board currently has had more than 2.800 threads regarding the series[4]. Typing the keyword "Mega XLR" on tumblr would also yield many results[6]. On Deviantart, typing the keyword "Megas XLR" on their search engine would yield more than 2.800 results[5].
