The Clock Crew^[2] is an animation group originating from Newgrounds.com.^[1] The group is ruled by StrawberryClock.

History

2001

A user by the name of Coolboyman flooded the Newgrounds Flash Portal with the purpose of antagonizing other users. All submissions were deleted and he continued flooding under the new username StrawberryClock. B, submitted on August 15th, 2001, was the first submission to pass judgment, and was also awarded "Turd of The Week."

The passing of B attracted attention from other users known as PineappleClock, RaspberryClock, and OrangeClock, with the latter being acknowledged as the creator of The Clock Crew.

2002 – Present

The Clock Crew's presence grew rapidly and has attracted hundreds of artists who are known as Clocks. Like the founders, nearly every Clock made use of anti-humor, absurdism and generally poor-quality animation to antagonize Newgrounds users. Speakonia, a relatively unknown text to speak program at the time was made popular by various Clocks and is now considered a staple in a majority of animations.

Other Clocks used the group as an outlet to develop and showcase their animation ability, becoming highly regarded in the Clock Crew and Newgrounds community. Some have become minor internet celebrities, such as dril^[3] and Vinny from Vinesauce.^[4] Others now have careers in animation and video game design, including NefClock,^[5] AnimeClock^[6], KoalaClock^[7], SageClock^[8], ZombieLincolnClock^[9], and Munglai.^[10]

Holidays

Clock Day is celebrated by both Newgrounds users and Clocks every year on August 15th in commemoration of B.

In Other Media

Various elements from The Clock Crew have appeared in other media, such as The Behemoth's Castle Crashers, Adult Swim's Mr. Pickles, and Warner Bros. Dying Light.
