Your Favorite Martian, abbreviated as YFM, is an animated rock music group created by Ray William Johnson known for its humorous and off-color songs. The group proved very popular in its ten years online, as its YouTube channel has over 2.42 million subscribers along with several music videos with tens of millions of views.[1]

The group's first music video was posted to YouTube on January 26th, 2011.[2] The music video, titled "My Balls," received over 31 million views before it was made private sometime after 2019.[3] On November 11th, 2021, the video was re-uploaded to their YouTube channel (shown below, left) where it received over 245,000 views in five months.[4] Later uploads would also go viral. On April 20th, 2011, the group posted the music video "Orphan Tears Part 1." The video (shown below, right) received over 42 million views in over eleven years.[5]

Their last public music video release before the group disbanded was "Boom Headshot," which was posted to YouTube on September 26th, 2012. The video (shown below) received over 7 million views in over nine years.

The group consists of four members: Puff Puff Humbert (vocalist, played by Ray William Johnson), Benatar (keyboardist, voiced by Ray William Johnson and sung by Jesse Cale), DeeJay (voiced by Rick Carter), and Axel Chains (voiced by Steve Greene).

Your Favorite Martian: The Series (YFMTS)

A miniseries involving the group was posted to YouTube from December 3rd, 2011 to April 19th, 2022. The miniseries consisted of 11 episodes (first and last episodes shown below).

The group disbanded on November 30th, 2012, mostly due to disputes between Ray William Johnson and co-creator Maker Studios over ad revenue and control of intellectual property rights of their upcoming album.[6] The album was ultimately canceled, and their YouTube channel went dormant for several years.

Reboot Announcement

On October 31st, 2021, the YouTube channel started to re-upload some of its previously privated music videos, such as "Nerd Rage" (shown below) and all of the episodes of YFMTS.

On May 16th, 2022, the group made an announcement on their Facebook page and YouTube channel (shown below, left) in response to fans asking about the canceled YFM album. On May 20th, 2022, the group announced that Ray William Johnson is 100% the legal owner of YFM as of 2022 (shown below, right).

WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT YFM ALBUM YOU WERE MAKING? Unfortunately YFM was canceled long before we were able to make an album. We wrote a little and kicked some ideas around, but we hadn't officially started recording. There is no super secret amazing album hidden away in some vault, as cool as that would be. That was 10 years ago and we're better writers now anyway. So I guess we'll just have to give you fresh new music on June 1st then. Hope that's okay :) Stam KAKE Ray William Johnson legally owns 100% of Your Favorite Martian as of 2022

On May 27th, 2022, Ray William Johnson revealed a redesign for the YFM characters (shown below, left). A teaser video, which was posted on May 28th, 2022, has hinted that their newest video will be "Orphan Tears Part 2," and will be released to the public on June 1st, 2022 (shown below, right).[7]

On May 31st, 2022, their new song "Orphan Tears Part 2" was released early on YouTube (shown below), and received over 136,000 views that same night. "Orphan Tears Part 3" was also announced the same night, and will release on YouTube on June 15th, 2022.[8]

Mr. Douchebag

Mr. Douchebag is a song and flash-based music video by the band Your Favorite Martian. The song features a character named Mr. Douchebag, which the music video animates as a muscular, tanned man with a chin-strap beard, red sunglasses, spiked-up hair, a naval-revealing tank top and green shorts. Mr. Douchebag is a parody of overly and performatively masculine men that inspired a series of parodies and remixes on YouTube that date back to 2011.

IDK, I feel like if he can keep that old mid 2000's edge from his older work it may actually be worthwhile. I'm so sick of modern sanitized YouTube videos, where they can't even say the fuck word anymore because they're so afraid of losing ad money. If he can do those sorts of 2008 edgy songs again about doing your mom and gay Mr. Burns or whatever I'll consider this a welcome throwback.
